WALL LIGHT

Inspired by the familiar interaction of lighting a match and blowing out a flame, this project combines intuitive physical motions with a warm, ambient lighting experience.

Soldering, prototyping, user interaction

INITIAL INPUT AND OUTPUT
Working as a team, we developed a base system where sound acted as the input and light as the output. Through testing and experimentation, we established a reliable foundation that we could each build upon individually.
CUSTOMIZING CIRCUIT
I customized the circuit by adding two touch sensors to turn the light on, while keeping the sound sensor to turn it off, with three lights as the output. During testing, I noticed the sound sensor responded more reliably to airflow, which sparked the concept.
INSPIRATION

The interaction was inspired by the act of lighting and blowing out a match. Sliding a finger between the two touch sensors mimics striking a match, while blowing on the sensor turns the light off like extinguishing a flame.

ENCLOSURE IDEATION
PROTOTYPING

During prototyping, I focused on programming the warm light colour and sliding action, while testing how the circuit would fit within the enclosure.
